Trisha faced the wrath of people strongly rooting for Jallikattu after she courageously came in support of stand taken by People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). The Animal Welfare Group launched an aggressive campaign against the ancient bull-taming sport and even sought people supporting it to be held for contempt of court.

When she was shooting for one of her upcoming films 'Garjanai' in Sivaganga district, Angry mob rounded-up Trisha's vanity van and began shouting slogans. Police intervened and brought Trisha safely from there.

Protesters pledged not to all any of the shootings of Trisha in Tamil Nadu as long as she doesn't apologise and withdraws her support to PETA. They have even gone to the extent of demanding a ban on PETA.

Tamil Nadu CM O Panneerselvam, AIADMK General Secretary Sasikala, Kamal Haasan, Suriya, Dhanush, Simbhu and Vishal have openly supported Jallikattu.
