Indian Railways is going to launch Double-Decker AC Train in July this year for overnight journey in routes where there is huge demand.
Utkrisht Double-Decker AC Yatri (Uday) Express is a special class service. Each Coach is equipped with 120 reclining chairs. These AC Coaches will also have LCD Screens and Wi-Fi Speaker System. Food, tea and cold drinks will be served through the vending machines.
Railway Ministry says pricing is the USP of Double-Decker Train. The price of the ticket will be less than that of 3-tier AC Class in Express Trains.
The Uday Express train is meant to address the heavy rush in routes such as Delhi-Lucknow. These trains running at a speed of 110 km per hour willn't have any sleeper berths though it's an overnight service.
