Time Running Out For Praja Kutami
X
Across Telangana, the TRS is seen fighting with its back to the wall and the Praja Kutami appears to be quite resurgent. But, that image could very well be a mirage. As for Praja Kutami, it is still a yet-to-be born child. The candidates have not been decided, the seat arrangements have not been worked out. There are a lot of road blocks in the whole process of alliance building. Many say, unless these things are worked out, the Congress-led Praja Kutami cannot gather steam.

As of now, the whole thing has hinged on seat adjustment. The Congress wants a majority of seats for itself, while the Telangana Jana Samiti of Prof Kodandaram and the CPI want more seats. There is a stalemate with both sides not willing to budge even an inch. Congress is not willing to yield more than six seats to the TJS and up to three seats to the CPI. But, both the parties want more.

The political watchers say that the real problems will start for the Praja Kutami once the tickets are distributed. The rebels will raise a banner of revolt and the there would be lot of "friendly" contests. All these might cost up to 30 seats for the Congress-led Kutami and this could mean that the Congress and its allies' tally might stop way too below the absolute majority mark. So, the Congress has its task cut out. It has to mollify the rebels, bring around friendly parties, avoid 'friendly contests' to offer a credible fight to the TRS. The sooner they do it, the better for the Congress. The time for the Praja Kutami is ticking.
