Reddys Dominate Telangana Assembly
X
Something very strange has happened during this elections in Telangana state. Despite the talk that the TRS was anti-Reddy and that the Reddys were all grouping under the umbrella of the Maha Kutami, the reverse has happened. This Assembly has 40 Reddys. As many as 31 of them are from the ruling TRS, which is seen as a Velama-dominated party. The Congress has 9 Reddys. The TRS gave more seats to Reddys this time and wiped off its anti-Reddy stigma.

As for other castes, ther eare 22 BCs, 19 SCs, 12 STs, 10 Velamas and eight Muslims. From the Kamma community, there are five MLAs, while Brahmins have two MLAs. One Vysya has been elected. There are as many as five yadavs, four Gouds and six Munnur Kapus.

Out of the 12 Velamas, who were given the tickets by the TRS, ten have won, while all the four Velamas who fought on Congress ticket have lost. Similarly, the TRS gave six seats to Kammas, of whom five won. The TDP has given seats to three Kammas and all of them have lost.

Among the SCs, nine are Madigas and six Malas. Among the STs, six have won from the TRS. Of them, five are Lambadas and the remaining is a Gond. Among the Muslims, seven are from the MIM and the other one is from the TRS. The TRS had three Muslim candidates, while the Congress had seven. But only one TRS candidate could win.
