7 Years Jail for Rash Driving

1.5 Lakh People have succumbing to the road accidents every year in India. Around 60,000 People per Year have been dying in the country only because of Rash Driving. Negligent driving is ruining many lives and Today's Youth isn't scared of the existing laws.
In December 2016, Supreme Court opined 2 Year imprisonment for rash and negligent driving isn't sufficient. The Apex Court maintained punishment should be much harsher whether people agree with it or not.
Union Government is mulling to amend Motor Vehicles Act so that 7 Years Jail could be awarded for those who are found guilty of causing death by rash and negligent driving. Centre has already sought the opinion of State Government regarding this matter. In the wake of rising accidents, Most of the Chief Ministers will be favoring harsher punishment as the person in the driving seat mayn't only kill himself but others as well if he/she is negligent.
