Sex with Wife below 18 Years is RAPE: SC

The Supreme Court Today delivered a landmark judgement. Sex between a Man and his Wife who ages below 18 will be treated as a crime but conditions apply. The Minor Wife need to lodge a police complaint within one year from the date of marriage.
In India, Sex with Minor Girl is considered as rape according to Section 375 but there is an exception. Sex with Wife who ages 15 or above can't be a rape even if it's without her consent as 46 percent of women between the age group 18-29 got married under the age of 18. But now, SC passed the judgement permitting Married Women in the age group 15-17 to file rape case against their Life Partners within one year.
Apex Court's Latest Order was passed during the hearing of a petition seeking scrapping of a certain provision in the Law allowing a Man to have sex with his underage Wife even without her consent. During the previous hearing, Centre had informed Supreme Court that India have 23 million child brides and hence criminalizing sex with minor wife as rape is inappropriate. Still, The above order has been delivered.
