Sonia Gandhi has gone to the United States for a regular medical check-up and will return after a week, her party officials said today. The 68-year-old leader's check-up was due for the past two months but it got delayed due to Bihar Assembly polls.
Speculation over the Congress president's health peaked in 2011, when she left India for a surgery in the US. Sonia Gandhi had gone abroad for treatment of an undisclosed ailment in August last year. During her over month-long stay abroad she had underwent a surgery.Neither her family nor the ruling party disclosed anything about her condition at the time.
