Sumalatha defeated Karnataka CM HD Kumaraswamy's Son Nikhil Gowda in Mandya during the recent Lok Sabha Elections. She was backed by BJP which refrained from fielding it's candidate and this movie really made the Former Actress create history. Notably, Sumalatha is the first Independent MP to win from any of the Lok Sabha segments in Karnataka in 53 years.
BJP Sources aren't ruling out Union Cabinet berth for Sumalatha even though she isn't a party member. They believe BJP will get strengthened in Karnataka with any such strategic move.
Actually, This is a tricky situation for Sumalatha. If she accepts any such offer from BJP, Congress Leaders who worked for her victory will get hurt. If she turns down the offer of BJP, There is a possibility of encountering trouble sometime in future.
Sources close to the Actress-turned-Politician say, Sumalatha backs NDA but doesn't join BJP. She will extend issue-based support and be the voice of Mandya People.
A final call will be taken by Sumalatha on May 29th which happens to be the birth anniversary of her husband late Ambareesh.
