Actress Sumalatha Ambareesh filed her nomination to contest as Independent in Mandya Lok Sabha Constituency. She took up the challenge to fight against Karnataka CM HD Kumaraswamy's Son Nikhil Gowda who is a candidate of JD (S)-Congress Combine.
Thousands of fans of Ambareesh reached the Deputy Commissioner's Office in support of Sumalatha. Ambareesh's popular song 'Mandyada Gandu' was played when she came to file the nomination.
Sumalatha recalled she used to accompany Ambareesh whenever her hubby filed his nomination. He added, 'Today, He is there with Me when I am filing my nomination'.
Star Heroes Yash and Darshan took part in Sumalatha's road show post the nomination. The rally is more like a show of strength of Sumalatha and over-whelming response is due to the sympathy wave.
Prakash Raj who is contesting as Independent from Bengaluru Central extended support to Sumalatha. 'It's not right to say Sumalatha lack awareness on politics. She is speaking like an experienced politician and have every right to contest elections. Knew her since many years, she is a good person. I extend my complete support. Nikhil Kumar lack the age to foray into politics. Where is the urgency to establish him as a leader? Better if he focusses on his film career. He would only end up getting bad image by using family legacy in politics,' he opined.
The Acclaimed Actor claimed AAP, CPI and CPM extended support to him. He met Deve Gowda for seeking support but the JD (S) Supremo told the decision will be taken by coalition government. 'Congress hasn't won in Bengaluru Central in the past 10 years. That is why I am seeking the support of Congress for my victory,' he said.
