Actually, Sumalatha aspired to contest from Mandya Constituency represented by her late Husband Ambareesh on Congress Ticket. However, The National Party allotted Mandya Ticket to JD (S) as part of coalition dharma. Victory of Sumalatha is a huge setback to the Congress-JD (S) Coalition Government.
BJP and its allies are leading in close to 25 out 28 Lok Sabha Segments in Karnataka. Congress-JD (S) is leading only in 3 seats.
