The Supreme Court on Wednesday restored Criminal Conspiracy charges against BJP Senior Leaders LK Advani, Murali Manohar Joshi, Union Minister Uma Bharti and 10 Others over demolition of the 16th Century Babri Masjid in Ayodhya. It's been alleged that provocative statements given by BJP Leaders have driven Karsevaks or Right-Wing Volunteers to demolish Babri Masjid in 1992.
Justice PC Ghose and RF Nariman ordered to club separate trials in trial courts at Rae Bareli and Lucknow, so that the joint trail could be conducted in UP's Capital only. Trial will happen on day-by-day basis and it can't be adjourned on any grounds. Time frame for completion of the trial was set as 2 years. The Apex Court informed Judges presiding over the case won't be transferred until the conclusion of trial and final judgement has been pronounced.
SC directed CBI to ensure that Prosecution Witnesses appear every day before the court to record the evidence. It ordered the trial court to start the proceedings within 4 weeks from now.
