First Time In 36 years, TDP Is Going It Alone
X
It's been 36 years the TDP is formed. All along the way, it has always fought in association with others. It has never fought alone. Even during NTR's time, it had alliances. The alliance partners benefited when the TDP won and lost when the TDP lost.

In 1983 elections, which were the first elections for the TDP, there was an alliance with Sanjay Vichar Manch. It was given five seats. In 1984, there was an alliance with the BJP. In fact, because of the alliance the BJP could win Hanamkonda where the BJP candidate had defeated PV Narasimha Rao. In 1989, the TDP had formed an umbrella alliance at the national level but lost the elections. In 1994, the TDP had an alliance with the Left Parties. In 1996 and 1998, Chandrababu fought in alliance with the Left Parties. In 1999, the BJP-TDP formed an alliance and swept the polls. The alliance continued in 2004. But, after a severe drubbing, the TDP left the BJP. In 2009, Chandrababu formed Maha Kutami with TRS and the Left parties, but lost badly.

This is the first time that the TDP is fighting the elections all alone without any alliance partner. Let's see what would be the result.
