TS govt Nursery for Thati Kallu

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has directed Excise Minister and the department officials to formulate a new excise policy . KCR held a meeting at the State Secretariat on Friday to review the new Excise Policy of Telangana Government.
KCR asked the officials to come up with a new policy which have very stringent provisions to drive out 'gudumba' (illicitly distilled liquor) from the State. KCR recalled that consumption of toddy was very high in Telangana in the past.
He said previous governments neglected the toddy palm cultivation and said that is the reason for rise of gudumba mafia in the state. He said that the government will take planting of 5 crore palm trees immediately so that people have generous supply of palm wine. He said a nursery would be established for Excise Department to promote cultivation of toddy trees.
