Former DCC president D Srinivas is one of the most inscrutable politicians around. Reading his mind and gauging his moves is very difficult. He is still a TRS Rajya Sabha MP and only on Wednesday, attended a high-level TRS meeting as technically, he has not resigned from the party. But at the same time, he is said to be in touch with the Congress leaders and it is his deep connections in the Congress Party that have helped in his son Dharmapuri Aravind’s victory from the Nizamabad Lok Sabha constituency.
The latest is that he is also in touch with the BJP top leadership. A photo doing rounds of the Internet shows DS in talks with BJP national president Amit Shah. One does not know when DS met Shah and where the meeting took place. DS too is hush hush about the meeting. Son Arvind too is tight lipped. Some sources say it was a courtesy meeting and there are no politics involved. But, those who know DS know how mercurial his moves are.
One interesting thing that not many political watchers know is the DS Srinivas's father had contested on the Bharatiya Janasangh ticket from Nizamabad. This was before 1971. The BJP is Jana Sangh's present avatar.
