A trial court sentenced Sasikala's husband Natarajan and three others for two years in prison in the 23-Year-Old case. The convicts challenged the verdict of lower court in the Madras High Court.
On Friday, The Madras High Court upheld the judgement of the Trial Court sentencing Natarajan to two years of imprisonment for cheating, forgery, conspiracy and tax evasion. Hours after the HC Verdict, He got admitted to a hospital.
The 74-Year-Old had undergone kidney and liver transplant at a Chennai hospital on October 3rd. He seems to have admitted to hospital now to delay the arrest.
Natarajan served as bureaucrat during Jayalalithaa's first term as Chief Minister. He was convicted for duty evasion in connection with the import of a Toyota Lexus car from UK in 1994. Tax to the tune of Rs 1.06 crore was evaded by declaring it as a used vehicle. CBI & ED booked cases after the submission of forgery documents by Natarajan.
