Lawyer who argued for Vijay Mallya in the extradition case hired a UK-based prison service expert to complain that Indian Jails are over-crowded and known for poor hygiene.

Vijay Mallya defaulted over Rs 9,000 crore in loans from Indian banks. Indian Government assured fair trial and better treatment for the Liquor Baron in Indian Jail.

Whereas, Mallya's Counsel Clare Montgomery deposed Prison Service Expert Dr.Alan Mitchell to the court for making him present the condition of Barrack 12 of Mumbai Central Prison on Arthur Road where Mallya is supposed to stay after his extradition to India. An argument has been made that Jails in India will have rats, cockroaches and snakes. Mitchell even told about an instance where Jail Superintendent had beaten up Prisoner with lathe for no proper reason.

Both Defense and Prosecution has finished their final arguments on Thursday. The trail is going to return on January 10th, 2018.

Chief Magistrate Arbuthnot will pass the ruling within a timeframe. UK Home Secretary will have to approve Mallya's extradition order within 2 months if the Judge favors Indian Government. Both Mallya and Indian Government will have a chance to appeal in the higher courts in UK if the verdict of lower court is against them.
