Hours before the mishap, The Boat Owner was warned by a Government Official over the lack of safety precautions and necessary permissions to ferry tourists.

On Sunday Morning, A Tourism Department Official asked the Owner of River-Boat Adventure Firm not to park their boat at the Durga Ghat as the place was meant for Government Boats. He then suggested the Owner to obtain permission from GM of Tourism Department to ferry the tourists. However, They began arguing with the Tourism Official when he asked the tourists to vacate the boat.

District Administrative chief B Lakshmikantham told repairs of the private boat were just been completed and it was supposed to go for a trail run without any passengers. Instead, The Boat Operator took 38 people to Pavithra Sangamam without thoroughly checking whether or not it's fully ready.
