As soon as Amit Shah became the president of the BJP, he brought in a rule that those above 75 years should voluntarily keep away from responsible positions and make way for youngsters. The rule was implemented in all earnestness and anyone over 75 were strictly told to step aside. Many seniors were made to resign and many more were not given party tickets. Even the likes of Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi were retired almost forcibly.
But, will this 75-year rule prove to be a millstone around Prime Minister Modi's neck? By 2024, Modi would be 74. He is 69 now. This means, he would be just one year away from retirement in 2024. So, will the party give ticket to Narendra Modi? Even if he is given a party ticket, will he be able to govern for five years? Or will he retire after ruling the country for one year?
So, will it be Amit Shah next? After all, Amit Shah is in his early 50s and has a long way to go. He can be Prime Minister for at least 15 more years. So, are we going to see Amit Shah as our next Prime Minister?
