Will Mysore Slip Out Of Congress-JDS Alliance?
X
In Karnataka, the Mysore region is considered the weakest for the BJP. Traditionally, the Congress does well here. In 2014, of the eight MP seats in Mysore region, the Congress won five. So, Congress joining hands with the BJP should be beneficial. But, the this time, the situation is different. There is a pro-Modi mood in the region and the BJP might actually win at least a half of these seats. Last time, the BJP could win only Mysore. But this time around, it could win Mysore, Haasan, Chikkaballapura and Kolar too. Even in Bengaluru, the Congress could win only Bengaluru rural mainly because of the votes in Ramanagara, which is CM Kumaraswamy's burrough. In Mandya, independent Sumalatha might romp home comfortably. The JDS might win in Tumkuru only as Devegowda is contesting from there.

The Mysore region comprises Mysore, Mandya, Haasan, Chamarajanagara, Ramanagara, Bengaluru rural, Kolar, Chikkaballapura and Tumkur district. Except Ramanagara, each district is an MP constituency. The BJP is contesting in all seats except Mandya, where it has extended support to Sumalatha. The Congress is contesting five, while the JDS is contesting three.

Pratapa Simha of the BJP could win from Mysore. In Chikkaballapura, former CM and Congress leader Veerappa MOily might lose. In Haasan, Congress faction led by former CM Siddaramaiah is all set to back BJP leader A Manju. He is an ex-Congressman who has cordial relations with Siddaramaiyya. In Kolar, former union minister Muniyappa might bite dust. IN Chamarajanagara too, Siddu's follower Srinivasa Prasad is contesting on BJP ticket. So, Siddu might back him. In Mandya, Sumalatha seems to be winning the seat. Bengaluru rural, Tumkur are the only two seats where the Congress and JDS could do well.
