2026 Reports: One Film Dominates, Telugu In Third Place
The list of 2026’s highest-grossing films so far, tells a very interesting story.
The list of 2026’s highest-grossing films so far, tells a very interesting story. At first glance, it looks like a healthy year with multiple blockbusters across industries. But a closer look reveals that one film completely dominated the market while everyone else was fighting for the remaining space.
At the top, stands Bollywood film Dhurandhar The Revenge with a staggering ₹1850 crore gross collection. The film didn’t just become the biggest hit of the year. It created a gap so massive that no other release even came remotely close. In fact, the difference between the first and second positions is nearly ₹1400 crore. It is followed by Border 2, which made a strong ₹465 crore collection. Then comes Telugu film, Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, which made ₹310 crore gross, proving that content-driven Telugu cinema can still attract audiences in big numbers. The film stood at third place so far in 2026.
Meanwhile, from Kollywood, Suriya’s Karuppu crossed ₹300 crore gross, and the final figure is yet to be out. Akshay Kumar’s Hindi movie Bhooth Bangla continued Bollywood’s horror-comedy momentum with ₹286 crore, while Malayalam cinema delivered another surprise with Vaazha 2 collecting ₹235 crore. Though it didn’t work in Telugu and other languages, the Malayalam version of Drishyam 3 once again proved the strength of the franchise as it clocked ₹200 crores.
However, the biggest talking point could be The Raja Saab. Despite Prabhas’ massive stardom, the film managed only ₹200 crore worldwide, thus turning out to be a below-average performer.
The bigger takeaway from 2026 will be known once the year ends. For now, these films are the newsmakers at the box office.
