Every year, the Telugu film industry churns out some big films, but the releases are not happening as planned. Perhaps, this year was supposed to be the release of so many big-ticket entertainers, especially the pan-India films being carved by Telugu filmmakers, but most of them moved to 2027. However, what surprises me is the amount of business those movies are going to do.
Films like Rajamouli and Mahesh’s Varanasi, Sandeep Vanga and Prabhas’ Spirit, Prashant Neel and Jr NTR’s Dragon, Atlee and Allu Arjun’s AA26, and even Nag Ashwin and Prabha’s sequel movie Kalki 2 are likely to hit cinemas in 2027 only. Even with minimal talk, the box office is likely to churn out ₹1000 crores easily for each movie, going by the hype and buzz around them. If the digital streaming rights are included, they will be making more than 1000-2000 crores collectively.
In all likelihood, a ₹6000 crore business is on cards by these big movies, and that’s the least they would bring. The upper mark would be much bigger. In recent times, any film with blockbuster talk is able to get past ₹1500 crores in the Indian market, including Bollywood and South Indian states. Imagine how the above-mentioned Telugu films might do if they all get blockbuster talk.
