The much-awaited 69th Filmfare Awards ceremony was held in Gujarat recently. Bollywood had a fantastic 2023 and they celebrated it in a grand fashion at the award function. It was a glitzy affair with Ranbir Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor and other setting the stage on fire with their performances. A lot of celebrities were present at the event and it was a night to remember.
It is Ranbir Kapoor who won the Best Actor in a Leading role Award for his portrayal of a wild role in 'Animal' while his wife Alia Bhatt won the Best Actress Award for 'Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani'. Critics Choice went to Vikrant Massy for his moving performance in '12th Fail' while Rani Mukerji and Shefali Shah won the Critics Award For their roles in 'Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway' and 'Three of Us' respectively.
Best Director Award went to Vidhu Vinod Chopra for '12th Fail' while the same movie won the Best Film Award as well. Joram was the Critics Choice for the Best Film. Vicky Kaushal's role in 'Dunki' won him the Filmfare in the Best Supporting Actor category while veteran Shabana Azmi won it in the same category for her role in 'Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani'. Best Music Album award went to 'Animal' where Pritam, Vishal Mishra, Manan Bhardwaj, Shreyas Puranik, Jaani, Bhupinder Babbal, Ashim Kemson, Harshwardhan Rameshwar, Gurinder Seagal composed the songs while Amitabh Bhattacharya won the Filmfare for 'Tere Vaaste' song.
Bhupinder Babbal won the Filmfare for singing 'Arjan Vailly' while Shilpa Rao was the Best Playback Singer female for her tremendous vocals in 'Besharam Rang' song. Best Background Score award went to Harsha Vardhan Rameshwar for his work in 'Animal' while Best Story Award was given to Amit Rai and Devashish Makhija for 'OMG 2' and 'Joram' films. Vidu Vinod Chopra won the Best Screenplay for '12th Film'. SRK's 'Jawan' won two Film Fare Awards in the Best Action and Best VFX categories while Ganesh Acharya won the Best Choreographer Award for his work in 'What Jumka?' song. David Dhawan won the Lifetime Achievement Award.
