72nd National Film Awards: Sukumar, Nag Ashwin, Venky Atluri and Niharika Shine

Director Sukumar won the Best Screenplay Writer award for Pushpa 2: The Rule. The film also received recognition in the costume design category, with Seethal and Deepali being honoured for their work.
Another Telugu filmmaker, Venky Atluri, won the Best Dialogue Writer award for Lucky Baskhar. The Dulquer Salmaan-starrer received appreciation for its story and writing, and the National Award added another major achievement to the film.
Prabhas-starrer Kalki 2898 AD also made its presence felt at the National Awards. The Nag Ashwin-directed science-fiction film won the award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. Production designer Nitin Bihani also received recognition for his work on the movie.
A special honour went to Committee Kurrollu, produced by Niharika Konidela. The film won the award for Best Telugu Film. Set against a rural backdrop, the movie focuses on friendship, young people and village politics.
35-Chinna Katha Kaadu also brought recognition to Telugu cinema. The film won the Best Children’s Film award, while child actor Potluri Arundev was honoured with the Best Child Artist award for his performance.
Mammootty And Karthik Aaryan Share Best Actor Award
The Best Actor award was shared by Mammootty for Bramayugam and Kartik Aaryan for Chandu Champion. Yami Gautam won the Best Actress award for Article 370. The same film was also recognised as Best Film.
The Best Director award went to Rajkumar Periasamy for Amaran. The film, starring Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi, is based on the life of Major Mukund Varadarajan.
Several other artists and films were also honoured. Sachana Namidass and Roopashree Varkadhe won Best Supporting Actress awards, while Sanjay Mishra received the Best Supporting Actor award for Bhakshak.
Captain Miller won the award for Best Film on National, Social and Environmental Values. Randeep Hooda was honoured as Best Debut Director for Swatantrya Veer Savarkar.
The 72nd National Film Awards once again highlighted the talent present across different Indian film industries. For Telugu cinema, the achievements of Sukumar, Venky Atluri, Nag Ashwin, Niharika Konidela and several other artists made the occasion particularly special.
