With Coolie racing towards theatres, the excitement is already off the charts. Superstar Rajinikanth in full action mode is reason enough for fans to go crazy, but this time, it’s Aamir Khan’s unexpected cameo that has stolen the headlines. Playing a fierce mafia don named Daaha, his intense first-look poster had social media buzzing. Soon after, rumours started swirling that Aamir had bagged ₹20 crore for just a brief appearance.
People close to Aamir have brushed aside the claim. According to them, money had nothing to do with his decision. “Aamir Khan has deep respect for Rajinikanth and the Coolie team. He said yes instantly without even hearing the full story. This cameo is simply his gesture of love for the project,” a source revealed. While Aamir isn’t taking a single rupee, his co-stars are pulling in massive fees, Rajinikanth himself reportedly earning ₹200 crore, Nagarjuna ₹10 crore, Shruti Haasan ₹4 crore, Sathyaraj and Upendra ₹5 crore each.
Behind the camera, the numbers are equally huge. Director Lokesh Kanagaraj is said to be charging ₹50 crore, while music director Anirudh Ravichander stands at ₹15 crore. These figures match the film’s grand scale and the record-breaking advance bookings, with trade circles predicting a Day 1 global opening above ₹150 crore, potentially outshining War 2, which releases the same day.
The frenzy is not just in India. In North America, Coolie has already crossed $2 million in premiere pre-sales, a first for any Tamil film. This beats Vijay’s Leo, Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1, and even Rajinikanth’s own Kabali. With two days still left before release on August 14, Coolie seems ready to not just break records, but to rewrite box office history altogether.
