Bollywood actor Aamir Khan recently spoke at the 56th International Film Festival of India and shared his thoughts about how movies are judged today. He said he feels sad that people are comparing films mainly through box office numbers. According to him, a film’s quality should not depend only on its collections.
Aamir explained that in the past, the audience discussed movies based on how much they liked them. People talked about stories, performances, music, and emotions. But now, numbers have become the first thing everyone looks at. He said this new habit has changed the way films are evaluated.
During the event, Aamir also said that he supports keeping box office numbers open to the public. In countries like the United States, movie collections are clearly available for everyone to see. He feels India should also follow a transparent system so that there is no confusion or secrecy. He added that since everyone already knows how many screens a film is released in, the collections should also be shared openly.
Aamir believes that comparing films only through earnings is not fair. Every movie is different. Some films make huge money, while some touch people’s hearts even without big numbers. He said good cinema always stays in the audience’s memory, even if the box office result is small.
