The Telugu audience are simply not turning up to theatres these days to watch random films. They are analysing the consistency of the actor, and also the kind of content that is coming up on display.
But luckily, in the case of Adivi Sesh, he is able to bring the audience to theatres with his good work that has been built up over the years. This is evident if we look at the performance of his latest film Dacoit.
Reportedly, this film had already entered the safe zone before the release as the non-theatrical agreements from the OTT satellite and music platforms fetched ₹48 crore for this film.
And now the film has very little exposure at the theatres and luckily it could collect ₹40 crore in the opening weekend at the global box office. The film has managed to post a significant revenue of ₹40 crore from the opening weekend at the box office, and this is a pretty positive side.
It would essentially mean that the film has already recovered the production expenditure and also performed reasonably well in the theatres, which would leave it in the safe zone. This is a very positive result for Sesh in the current market.
Despite the mixed reviews, earlier, this film was able to bring the audience to theatres in big numbers thanks to Sesh, and this is a result of credibility that he had built over the years.
But nevertheless, the responsibility is now on stage to come back stronger and make bigger and better films in order to avoid such situations in the future. The film must be the one bringing legacy to him and not the other way around. Perhaps there is no other person who understands it better than Sesh at this point in time.
