The actor, whose latest film Good Bad Ugly has crossed a remarkable Rs 200 crore at the box office, recently added the prestigious Padma Bhushan award to his list of accolades. Now, his victory extends further as he clinched another international award.
The ‘Osaka Tamil International Film Festival,’ which serves as a bridge between the Tamil and Japanese film industries, held its grand ceremony this Wednesday, celebrating the best of 2023. Among the distinguished winners, Ajith was honored as the Best Actor for his role in Thunivu, while Trisha earned the Best Actress award for her performance in Leo. The Best Director award went to Vetrimaaran for Vidudalai Part 1, and AR Rahman was named Best Music Director for his work on Maamannan and Ponniyin Selvan 2. Notably, Leo, starring Vijay, led the event with wins across six categories.
Other notable winners include Chiyaan Vikram, who took home the Best Supporting Actor award for Ponniyin Selvan 2, and Aishwarya Rai, who won Best Supporting Actress for the same film. Maamannan saw Fahadh Fazil awarded Best Villain, while Manoj Paramahamsa won Best Cinematographer for Leo. Additionally, Goodnight was recognized as the Best Production House, and Leo dominated the technical categories, winning awards for Best Choreography, Editing, Stunt Direction, Art Direction, and Sound Design.
