No hero becomes a star overnight. Stardom comes only when films connect with the audience. A strong family background may create initial hype, but only the right films can sustain that momentum and help an actor build a successful career. Akhil Akkineni is a perfect example of this. Despite entering the industry with massive expectations, a series of wrong film choices has left him struggling to find solid ground even after a decade.

Maybe he has finally realized what works. Instead of chasing larger-than-life mass elevations, Akhil has chosen a story-driven film with Lenin. Rather than making the film revolve around the hero, it presents him as an integral part of the narrative. Rural dramas aren't new to Telugu cinema, but Lenin tries to offer a different experience through interesting characters and thriller-style twists.

However, the emotional drama doesn't land as effectively as it should, and the lack of a strong emotional connection between the characters prevents the film from becoming truly impactful. That said, Lenin never feels boring.

At times, it feels like the story exists mainly to accommodate twists rather than the twists emerging naturally from the story. Even so, many of those turns manage to keep the audience engaged. Akhil's intense performance, Bhagyashri's glamorous presence, beautiful visuals, well-shot songs, and grand action sequences deliver the commercial entertainment that audiences expect.

Lenin may not be the film that completely transforms Akhil's career, but it is certainly one of his better efforts compared to his previous releases. If you walk in without sky-high expectations, you'll likely find it to be a fairly watchable film.
