Legend ANR has left a huge impact on Indian Cinema over his career that lasted seven decades from 1941 till 2014. Celebrating his legacy and heritage during his 100th birth anniversary, Annapurna Studios in association with Film Heritage Foundation, NHAI, NDFC has decided to conduct screening of his 10 iconic films in 31 cities across India. They have named the event as ANR100: King of Silver Screen.
Akkineni family members including Akkineni Nagarjuna, Akkineni Naga Chaitanya, Akkineni Akhil, Sumanth, Sushanth have attended the first screening event in Hyderabad. Famous writer Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad anchored the show and director K. Raghavendra Rao, Murali Mohan attended the event as special guests.
Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad talked about ANR's love for education and his penchant to build college in Gudivada, his hometown back in 1950's. Later, he praised ANR's commitment to help students to get educated by donating funds at regular intervals.
At the event, Post Master General unveiled Special ANR centenary stamp in front of the media. Speaking to media, Shivendra Dungarpur of Film Heritage Foundation stated that it is their honor to be celebrating an icon of Indian Cinema like ANR and the response for screening is good across India.
Later, Sanjay Jaju - Secretary, Information & Broadcasting Ministry, announced that a special chapter will be played celebrating ANR's legacy in his centenary year at IFFI, Goa later this year. Director K. Raghavendra Rao remembered his family's association with ANR and hailed his dedication towards work.
Further, Murali Mohan remembered how he used to watch ANR films in his childhood days and wished for an autograph with him. He thanked his stars for giving him and his family a long association with his idol.
Akkineni Nagarjuna speaking on behalf of entire Akkineni family, thanked senior fans for conducting blood donation camps across the state. Later, he announced that ANR award in ANR's centenary year has been conferred to Megastar Chiranjeevi and Amitabh Bachchan will be handing over to him on 28th October in a grand event.
Earlier, Akkineni family celebrated ANR's 100th birthday at Annapurna Studios by garlanding his statue and invited 600 senior fans to the Studios. They had lunch with all of them and acknowledging their love and support over the years, they presented them with clothes, proving their down-to-earth nature.
