Remakes are happening at lightning speed these days, with blockbuster films quickly securing rights for new adaptations. However, success isn’t always guaranteed—several remakes, like HIT: The First Case starring Rajkummar Rao and Sanya Malhotra or Love Today’s Bollywood remake LoveYapa, failed to recreate the magic of the originals. Despite this, yet another Telugu hit is now on the radar for a Bollywood remake.
Directed by Anil Ravipudi, Sankranthiki Vasthunam featured Victory Venkatesh in the lead, with Dil Raju backing the film under Sri Venkateswara Creations. Actresses Meenakshi Chaudhary and Aishwarya Rajesh played key roles in this family entertainer, which turned into a massive blockbuster after its release on January 14. Not only did the film cross an impressive ₹300 crore at the box office, but it also recently announced its OTT debut, soon to be available on Zee5.
With Sankranthiki Vasthunam winning over Telugu audiences, reports suggest that producer Dil Raju is eyeing Bollywood for its remake. There’s strong buzz that he wants Akshay Kumar to lead the project, given his track record with family entertainers. Though discussions are ongoing, an official confirmation is yet to be made.
If this remake moves forward, it will be interesting to see if Bollywood can capture the charm of the original. Fans now eagerly await more updates on this much-anticipated project.
