Censor Board Questions Ramba-Urvasi-Menaka?

In recent times, though the content on digital platforms is going unchecked and uncensored, any film that is coming to theatres for mass exhibition is getting brutally scrutinised by the Censor Board.

Already, we have seen how the likes of Jana Nayagan have gone through Censor troubles, then Revising Committee appeals and finally a Court case to come out. Now, it looks like Allari Naresh’s simple comedy film ‘Ramba Urvasi Menaka’ aka ‘RUM’ is going through such stuff.

Apparently, the portrayal of Ramba, Urvasi, and Menaka, who, as per Hindu mythology, are the revered angels from heaven (swargam), has surprised and shocked the Censor Board, we hear. As the film portrayed them as cheap dancers taking up the stage and dancing, as seen in the title song of the film, the CBFC is said to have asked them for clarity regarding the portrayal and refused to certify the film.

That said, RUM makers can now approach the Censor Board, just in case they want to get the Certificate on time, paving a smooth way for the intended September 4th release of the movie. Only if the Certificate comes out on Monday, the film might hit the marquee as planned, but otherwise, catching that date is tough for the Allari Naresh starrer.
