Allari Naresh: "Comedy is a Dying Genre"?
Naresh responded by acknowledging the changing landscape of humor.
Known for tickling audiences with his hilarious performances in films like Kitakitalu, Seema Sastri, Athili Sattibabu LKG, Bendu Apparao R.M.P, Allari Naresh's recent shift away from comedy roles has sparked curiosity. The teaser of his new film, Aa Okkati Adakku, was recently unveiled in Hyderabad. During the event, Naresh answered about his shift away from comedy roles in recent times.
Naresh responded by acknowledging the changing landscape of humor. "The kind of comedy that worked in films like Kithakithalu wouldn't fly today," he explained. "Jokes about body shaming or someone's appearance are simply not acceptable anymore. Audiences are more sensitive, and creating humor that doesn't offend anyone is a challenge." This cautious approach, he admitted, has led him to be more selective when choosing comedic projects.
Naresh, however, remains committed to entertaining audiences. "Comedy films are generally quicker to shoot," he said. "While I've received several comedy scripts lately, many rely on spoofs, parodies, or even double entendres. My father always emphasized the importance of keeping family audiences comfortable. I will only do films that offer healthy, wholesome comedy."
Aa Okkati Adakku, starring Naresh alongside Faria Abdullah, Vennela Kishore, and others, is slated for release in April. The film promises to deliver Naresh's signature comedic charm while adhering to his principles of clean humor.
