A controversy has erupted on social media following the inauguration of Allu Cinemas, a new multiplex linked to the family of Allu Arjun. The theatre was recently launched in Kokapet, Hyderabad, with A. Revanth Reddy attending the opening ceremony.
The controversy began after a video from inside the multiplex went viral online. The clip showed a “Wall of Fame” inside the lounge area featuring photographs of several prominent filmmakers from across Indian cinema.
Directors such as S. S. Rajamouli, Mani Ratnam, Trivikram Srinivas, Sukumar, Prashanth Neel, Rishab Shetty and Atlee were seen on the display. However, the selection of filmmakers quickly sparked debate among cinema fans. Many social media users questioned why certain influential directors were missing from the wall.
Filmmakers like Shankar, Puri Jagannadh and Ram Gopal Varma were notably absent, leading to criticism from some film enthusiasts.Another point of discussion was the inclusion of Atlee among “legendary” directors. Some online users argued that his presence alongside long established filmmakers seemed questionable, while others speculated that professional connections with Allu Arjun may have influenced the choice.
While the multiplex also reportedly features another wall dedicated to legendary filmmakers from earlier generations, the partial visuals circulating online have fueled intense debate. Observers say such curated lists often lead to controversy because it is nearly impossible to include every influential filmmaker in Indian cinema.
