Alpha Teaser: YRF Failed To Learn The Lesson?

Finally, after a lot of delays and after the disastrous result of much hyped Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR starrer War 2, Bollywood’s once celebrated production house Yash Raj Films has finally released the teaser of their upcoming YRF Spyverse movie “Alpha”. What was thought of as the biggest universe and conceptualised as the Indian spy gang, has now turned into routine fare, as the teaser proves the same.

Firstly, the film features Alia Bhatt as Alpha, but guess what, that’s not as stunning as everyone thought. In fact, Alia Bhatt does not have the body like that of an Angelina Jolie or Gal Gadot, or Priyanka Chopra, to that matter, in order to be convincing as a fighter. Nor does she have extraordinary martial arts skills to sound like a warrior. Now, casting her in a story heavily inspired by Hollywood movies where a father raises her up like a special soldier is too wacky. Looks like, despite YRF’s spyverse failing big time in recent times, they haven’t learned their lessons about the casting and story-side updates.

The teaser is getting mixed responses right now as many felt that even the last shot in the teaser, where Alia Bhatt is made to kill a person while wearing a bra, and her father (Bobby Deol) encouraging the just 18-year-old daughter to do that, is highly sexualised. While Bollywood critics highly criticise Telugu movies and the way heroines are presented, many are wondering whether they are staying mute in the case of YRF’s unwanted glamour touch to spyverse films.
