The fiasco of actor Shivaji making inappropriate comments on the dressing sense of heroines, in the name of helping them protect themselves, is taking an ugly turn each passing day. After apologising for using bad words, Shivaji stated that he stands by his comments as his intention is good. But that’s not going well for him.
Saying that the likes of Anasuya and Chinmayi got provoked after someone fed them with tweets, the actor made a mockery of why Anasuya is getting into this debate. Reacting to the same, Anasuya made a long social media post, where she stated that more men and women are fearing that they are losing control over women, and upholding a patriarchal ego.
“Some men, and even some women, are trying to belittle me and make me feel inferior by using my age against me. People with this kind of mindset often target progressive women. This stems from a fear of losing control over women and a desire to uphold a fragile patriarchal ego, she wrote, adding that she’s appealing to all the men and women, saying that everyone is the same. “We don't necessarily have to carry forward the ideas or habits that previous generations learned or became accustomed to”, she says.
Saying that we can choose to change, protect our dignity and our freedom, empower and support each other, Anasuya concluded, “Our worth comes from our choices, not from anything else.
Asking media outlets to act responsibly, she requested that they not glorify those who talk ill about women and their choices.
