Vijay’s Jana Nayagan: Anil Ravipudi Made A Mistake?

Walking into a remake, that too with high political baggage, could have diluted that identity. So he might have taken the right call to not go near Jana Nayagan!;

At one point, there was strong buzz around ace director Anil Ravipudi being considered for Vijay’s Jana Nayagan. But he chose to step away. Because the director didn’t want to remake his own film again. Instead of remaking Bhagwant Kesari with Vijay, Anil moved ahead with Megastar Chiru’s Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu, sticking to his zone and clarity. Is that a mistake?

Right now, with all the noise, controversy, and political heat around Jana Nayagan, the project has turned into a full-blown sensation. The kind where every name attached gets amplified. Now that Vijay’s TVK made it huge in the Tamil Nadu election, surely doing Jana Nayagan would have got big name and fame for Anil Ravipudi in Tamil Nadu as well. However, there’s a downside as well to it.

In fact, when they kick-started Jana Nayagan, it was just another remake attempt from Vijay. Now that Vijay has won, we are talking about Anil Ravipudi missing the boat, but what if Ilayathalapathy lost the election? If Vijay loses, and Jana Nayagan makes to fail impact, then Anil Ravipudi gets blamed big time. Perhaps the director might have given a thought to this as well.

On the other hand, Anil Ravipudi’s strength has always been his original commercial voice, with funny entertainers, timing-based humour, and strong family connection. Walking into a remake, that too with high political baggage, could have diluted that identity. So he might have taken the right call to not go near Jana Nayagan!
