₹25 Cr For Music Director? Still They Want Him
Only if the Gen Z audience and the teens, along with families, connect to a couple of songs from the movie, then the film is likely to get bigger openings.
When it comes to selling a film, these days, more than the hero and the heroine of the movie, the music plays a key role.
Only if the Gen Z audience and the teens, along with families, connect to a couple of songs from the movie, then the film is likely to get bigger openings. And if songs don’t connect, whether that is Cocktail 2 like a glamour-filled movie or a big Telugu star like Chiranjeevi’s film, those projects are not getting enough attention. That’s the reason this composer is now charging more than ₹25 crores, knowing his worth in full.
Director Trivikram himself got tired of Anirudh during the making of ‘Agnyathavasi’ and even publicly stated that he asked the young composer to learn Telugu first. But now, for his upcoming “God of War” with Jr NTR in the lead, the director roped in Anirudh only, paying him nearly ₹25 crore in remuneration. That’s the paycheck for some star heroes in the Telugu industry, but still the director has no option but to rope him.
Even for upcoming films like Allu Arun’s #AA23 with Lokesh Kanagaraj and Balakrishna’s #NBK112 with Koratala Siva, the respective producers have spent more than ₹20 crores to rope Anirudh. This is because of the belief that at least a couple of songs in the movie will click, and the audience will flock to theatres due to those chartbusters.
Anirudh is currently followed by the likes of SS Thaman and Sai Abhyankar, who are charging around ₹10 crores per film, while AR Rahman is also charging in the same ballpark.
