Nagarjuna Bringing Another 'Distribution' Venture
At a time when none are expecting that Suriya will bounce back, and even the reviews aren’t so good for the film, Karuppu has done the expected.
Annapurna Studios has been into distribution from sometime, but Akkineni Nagarjuna never went aggressive in terms of buying and distributing films. However, whatever the films that are churned out by Annapurna Studios production-arm used their own channels always to release the movies. However, it looks like things changed massively with the release of Suriya’s Veerabhadrudu, the Telugu version of Karuppu movie.
At a time when none are expecting that Suriya will bounce back, and even the reviews aren’t so good for the film, Karuppu has done the expected. While the Tamil version of the film clocked nearly ₹240 crores gross already, the Telugu version in Telugu states is also doing well. Veerabhadrudu collected nearly ₹26 crores gross. Rather than buying the film, Nagarjuna released this movie on a ‘revenue-sharing’ basis, and that has helped both the producers, and Nagarjuna also made good money. Owing to this, he’s now giving another movie the same deal.
Following the successful distribution of Veerabhadrudu in the Telugu states, Annapurna Studios joins hands with KVN Productions and Thespian Films for the Telugu states release of the Malayalam film, Balan The Boy. The movie is directed by Manjummel Boys fame Chidambaram S. Poduval. As the film is heading for a worldwide release on 19 June 2026, Annapurna Studios is currently dubbing the film and paving way for a massive release amidst the Pedid storm.
