Anupama Parameswaran didn’t hold back when asked why most of her work has been in Telugu cinema rather than in Malayalam, her native language. While promoting her upcoming film Janaki vs. State of Kerala, the actress addressed the question with honesty and clarity.
She recalled being trolled in her early career, especially about her acting. “People said I wasn’t good enough,” she said. “But instead of backing away, I worked harder. Telugu films gave me a chance, and those roles connected with viewers. That’s how things naturally moved in that direction.”
She also thanked director Praveen Narayan for giving her the lead role in Janaki vs. State of Kerala, calling it an important step in her career. “This film reflects everything I’ve been through. It’s more than just another project — it answers a lot without needing to explain.”
Set to release on the 27th, the film marks her return to Malayalam screens with purpose. Anupama doesn’t just bring a role to life — she brings her journey with it.
