Will Movie Ticket Price Controversies Finally End?
Movie ticket prices have become one of the biggest talking points before every Telugu film release.
Movie ticket prices have become one of the biggest talking points before every Telugu film release. Fans often wait to know whether ticket prices will increase or remain the same. In many cases, discussions about ticket rates begin even before the movie reaches theatres. This has created a lot of curiosity among audiences and the film industry.
At present, producers in Andhra Pradesh need government approval if they want to increase ticket prices for a film. Every request is reviewed separately, making the process lengthy and time-consuming. Because of this, many filmmakers have been asking for a simpler system.
Now, there is good news for the Telugu film industry. The Andhra Pradesh government is reportedly working on a new Government Order (GO) that could introduce a flexible ticket pricing system. If approved, filmmakers may no longer have to seek special permission from the government to revise ticket prices.
According to reports, the new proposal would allow producers and distributors to decide ticket prices within a fixed range. The suggested price band is between ₹100 and ₹1,000. This means ticket prices could be fixed based on factors like the scale of the film, production budget, release plans, and audience demand.
A similar system is already being followed in Telangana. There, producers can increase ticket prices up to a certain limit without getting prior approval from the government. Andhra Pradesh is now said to be considering a comparable model, while also offering more flexibility.
The latest update was shared by Andhra Pradesh Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh during the Lenin success meet. He said the proposal is under consideration and may be implemented soon. However, the government has not yet issued the official GO.
If the new policy comes into effect, it could make the ticket pricing process much easier for producers and distributors. At the same time, audiences will be watching closely to see how ticket rates are decided for future releases. Many people also hope the new system will maintain a balance between supporting the film industry and keeping cinema affordable for movie lovers.
