Director AR Murugadoss, whos known for making big action films, is now working on Madraasi with Sivakarthikeyan. During the films promotion, Murugadoss opened up about his struggle with Bollywood. He said he doesnt really understand Hindi cinema and feels completely out of place when working there.
He explained that working in Tamil feels natural because he knows the audience and what kind of stories they enjoy. He gets the slang, the emotion, and the youth culture. But in Hindi, it's a different world. His scripts are first turned into English and then into Hindi. Though he has a clear idea in his head, he gets confused when it plays out differently on set.
Murugadoss admitted that he relies only on his screenplay in Bollywood since he cant connect with the dialogues or delivery. He said, "I feel like a handicapped person on Hindi sets." Even with Telugu films, he said he can manage a little, but Hindi is a complete disconnect.
Madraasi is now being shot on a large scale, with Rukmini Vasanth as the heroine. Music is by Anirudh. The film is racing toward release on September 5.
