Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman has taken legal action against rumors spreading about his personal life. He recently sent a notice to social media users and YouTubers who posted defamatory content about him. Rahman demanded the removal of such content immediately warning of legal consequences.
Rahman and his wife Saira announced their separation after 29 years of marriage. Their decision was shared publicly through a joint statement, citing emotional strain as the reason. Rahman thanked his supporters for their kind messages during this challenging time.
However, rumors began circulating about Rahman and his bassist, Mohini Dey, suggesting a relationship. These claims gained traction after both Rahman and Mohini announced separations from their respective partners around the same time.
Rahman issued a legal notice addressing these rumors. The notice called the content false and harmful to his reputation. He accused social media creators of spreading fabricated stories for publicity. He emphasized that such actions violate social media guidelines against harassment and abuse.
In the notice, Rahman warned that if the content is not removed within 24 hours, he would file a defamation case under Indian law. The offenders could face up to two years in prison.
Rahman’s lawyer urged people to respect the family’s privacy during this difficult period. The composer requested the public not to believe false narratives.
Meanwhile, Rahman’s daughter Raheema also spoke out. She called those spreading rumors "haters" and defended her father on Instagram. She asked people to focus on Rahman’s achievements rather than gossip.
