Bengal's tinsel town is witnessing a highly disturbing trend. Young actresses and models are ending their lives in a jiffy. In the last two weeks, as many as four models or actresses have committed suicide. This spate of suicides is raising serious questions about what is wrong with the Bengali film world.
On Tuesday model-cum-actress Saraswati Das (18) was found hanging from the ceiling of her home in Kaspa region of Kolkata city. She ended her life after her mother and aunt went out. Though her grandmother tried to save her, Saraswati died even before she could be taken to the hospital. The police are investigating the causes of death.
Barely a couple of days ago, model-cum- actress Manjusha Niyogi ended her life. This was followed by the suicide of Bidisha Mazumbadar. Bidisha is an actress and a close friend of Manjusha. The reason for this extreme act is unknown. Earlier too, another actress ended her life by hanging from the ceiling of her room.
