Ranveer Singh's much hyped biographical sports drama 83, which is based on India's emphatic journey in the 1983 Cricket world cup received a relatively good response from the critics.

But the film failed utterly when it comes to the theatrical prospects. In fact, 83 has emerged as the biggest disaster in Indian cinema.

There are reports claiming that 83 was mounted on a budget in excess of Rs 200 crores. This is a whopping budget indeed. But the theatrical returns were nowhere close.

As per our sources, 83 has incurred losses amounting to Rs 120 crores to the producers. Reliance Entertainments, who produced the project are now staring at magnanimous losses.

No other project in Indian cinema incurred such humongous losses to everyone involved. 83 is the first film to result in such poor returns.

83 has Ranveer Singh, Jeeva, Deepika Padukone and others in central roles. The film is directed by Kabir Khan.
