AAP protest: Four Metro stations to be closed Monday

Update: 2014-01-20 07:28 GMT
Four Metro stations will remain closed for four hours Monday following a protest called by the Aam Aadmi Party, authorities said.

"...Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat, Udyog Bhawan and Race Course metro stations will remain closed from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the wake of the 'dharna' by the AAP at North Block," a Delhi Metro official said.

The Delhi Police, which comes under the union home ministry, Sunday imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPc, banning unlawful assembly in New Delhi district, where the home ministry office is located.

However, this will not affect the interchange at the Central Secretariat Metro station.

"Controlled exit of government employees from the Central Secretariat station will be allowed after checking their IDs," the official added.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, along with his ministers, will sit on a protest outside the home ministry Monday demanding that five police officials be suspended for their alleged inaction in busting a "prostitution and drug racket" and a dowry case.

The party has alleged that the policemen did not cooperate with Delhi Law Minister Somnath Bharti during his vigilante-style raid Wednesday night and on minister Rakhi Birla's complaint concerning "improper action" in the dowry case.
