Actress-presenter Mandira Bedi suffered a big loss recently by losing her husband Raj Kaushal. The ad filmmaker breathed his last at 49 during the early hours of Wednesday due to cardiac arrest.

Sahoo actress Mandira Bedi has decided to bid goodbye to her spouse by performing the last rites of her husband. The anchor, who hosted the ICC Worldcups held the pot and went to the funeral ground and lit the pyre.

Mandira Bedi's action made her an easy target for the netizens as they found fault with the presenter performing the last rites. Usually, the child of the deceased if not any male members performs the rites. Her attire also became debatable.

Forget about men, Mandira, who acted as an anchor for the 2009 edition of IPL was also targeted by women online for performing the last rites of her husband that too in a western outfit rather than in a saree.

Trolls and comments targeting Mandira Bedi turned a bit nasty and even termed his decision to perform the last rites of her husband as a publicity stunt. She was advised that instead of her, her son Vir should have lit the pyre.

Mandira Bedi faced the ire of Patriarchists. The comments, she received for performing the last rites of her spouse showed us the regressive mindsets people have and how the Patriarchy is deciding what and what not to de for women even in the 21st century.

This is not the first time, the woman performed the last rites. Back in 2018, when former Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, one of the respectable politicians left us, his foster daughter Namita Kaul Bhattacharya performed the last rites

She lit the pyre and bid a teary goodbye to the great leader. Everyone thought she gave a new hope with this. But the reality is harsh. People even have objections about what women wear for particular events like the last rites. Namita Kaul Bhattacharya was not targeted as she wore a white Punjabi dress.

Coming to the 'Shanti' actress Mandira Bedi's incident, she was trolled for taking part in the last rites despite the couple having a son and the dress she wore for this had also attracted severe criticism.
