Allu Arjun is currently shooting for Pushpa: The Rise at a specially erected set in Kakinada. The unit is canning a special song featuring Allu Arjun in this ongoing schedule and the majority of the shoot will be wrapped up with the same. The unit will then be moving to Hyderabad, where the final portion of the film will be shot in a specially designed forest set. The entire filming part will be completed with this Hyderabad scheduled and on official announcement on the completion of shoot will be made correspondingly.
The latest we hear is that Aluu Arjun has locked the tentative release date for the film. Apparently, Allu Arjun persists on releasing the film on the 17th of December this year. The film is likely to release a week preceding the Christmas season. This gives the Allu Arjun starrer a festival release advantage which would help its pan-India box office prospects. Right from the start, Allu Arjun was clear about releasing the film this Christmas season. Even when the conditions weren't favorable for new releases, Allu Arjun clearly stood for Christmas release for Pushpa: The Rise.
Now that the pan-India market is likely to reopen as the Maharashtra government has permitted normal operations of cinema halls, several biggies have reiterated the release dates. Now, Pushpa could well be one of the films which sticks to its initial release plans. The unit shot even amidst challenging conditions to make sure that the film is readied for release during the Christmas season. Their hard work has now paid off as they will have the luxury of releasing the film in theatres this Christmas season, just like the way they had planned earlier.
As we had reported earlier, Pushpa: The Rise will be locking horns with the Hindi remake of Jersey, with the same title. Jersey is also announced for Christmas release. While the film will not offer any competition to Pushpa in the South Indian states, it might slightly affect the prospects of the Allu Arjun starrer in the northern circuit. That said, Jersey is a classy film and Pushpa is a mass action thriller. So, there wont be a direct clash at the ticket counters as both these films cater to different sections of the audience.
