Talented actresses Regina Cassandra and Nivetha Thomas have teamed up for the first time to feature in an action comedy film 'Saakini Daakini'. The film which is the official remake of the South Korean action-comedy film 'Midnight Runners' and it is being produced by D. Suresh Babu, Sunitha Tati and Hyunwoo Thomas Kim. Directed by Sudheer Varma, this film is getting released on 16th September.
The promotions have already begun and we can see from the trailer that the two lead actors hate each other at the beginning of training camp but work together under forced circumstances. The promos projected the fun parts more and it worked out well as the buzz got increased. Sources say that the film is more than a fun entertainer as it deals with serious concepts like misuse of surrogacy and harvesting eggs.
To prevent its wrong usage, the government laid Surrogacy (Regulation) Act of 2021 and brought in other laws too in order to overlook the reproductive technology clicks and banks. Apparently, 'Saakini Daakini' deals with the crime happening in this field. As we know, both Nivetha and Regina will be seen as rookie police officers. It will be interesting to see them putting an end to this crime.
Richard Prasad's camera work is commendable, whereas Mikey McCleary and Naresh Kumaran duo worked on the outstanding background score. Viplav Nyshadam's editing is sharp going by the promos. Sudheer Varma who is too good at handling thrillers has shown his mark in dealing this subject.
Sudheer Varma needs a hit right now as his last few films tanked at the box office. Nivetha was last seen playing an important role in Pawan Kalyan's 'Vakeel Saab' while Regina's last film in Telugu was 'Acharya' in which she did an item song.
