Tamil Nadu's Andavar Munnetra Sangam demanded a ban on newly released flick 'Pichaikaran' complaining that few scenes in the movie hurt the sentiments of Hindus.

Even Brahmins Association in Chennai lodged a complaint with Police Commissioner. Association's Chief Secretary Vijay Sharma and his Team submitted a representation seeking a ban on the feature film.

Using 'Gayatri Mantra' in an objectionable manner in 'Pichaikaran' sparked a controversy. Some of the scenes show both the people outside and inside the temples as beggars.

Music Director Vijay Anthony played hero, composed music and produced 'Pichaikaran'. Director Sashi who launched Vijay Anthony as Composer with the 'Dishyum' helmed the project. Interestingly, 'Pichaikaran' received tax exemption from Tamil Nadu Government.
