Andhra Pradesh State government's scheme of distributing LED bulbs is giving fruitful results. As per the recently conducted survey by conducted by Andhra University and Engineering Staff College of India, The state government has saved about 421mn unit of power last year.
The aggressive drive for energy-efficient activities was launched following directions of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and it was strictly followed. As per reports the State government distributed 57.03 lakh LED bulbs in Anantapur, Guntur, and West Godavari and Srikakulam districts. A total of 1.75 crore bulbs were distributed so far in all the 13 districts.
The study says that 421 million unit of power was saved in one year because of the use of LED bulbs. The survey was conducted covering 57,667 households in the four districts. The actual energy saving per bulb has been 73.7 unit on an average, as against the projected 55.65 units.
The use of LED bulbs in the four districts helped the consumers to save between Rs 250 and Rs 550 each in their electricity bills. Union Power Minister Piyush Goyal will release the study at a function in Nellore on February 27 in the presence of union minister M Venkaiah Naidu and AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
